The good news keeps coming from Brazil.
President Bolsonaro has just nominated General Gerson Menandro de Garcia Freitas as Brazil's ambassador to Israel. General Menandro โ as he is known in Brazil and in the United States โ is a highly respected Brazilian man, who is admired by all sides of the Brazilian political spectrum.
One of the most remarkable achievements of President Bolsonaro has been his ability to increase support for Israel among his people. Even Bolsonaro's political opponents think twice now before they attack the Jewish state.

General Menandro will come to Israel to achieve very specific missions ordered. He is a very proud Christian Zionist with Israeli military training. His knowledge of Israeli military methodology makes him the perfect diplomat to reinforce Brazilian-Israeli cooperation in the defense field.
He knows exactly how Israel might help Brazil in promoting its vital interests in the American continent โ and he knows how Brazil might help Israel meet its major challenges in the present and in the future.
General Menandro will also bring to Prime-Minister Netanyahu a proposal to strengthen Israel-Brazil cooperation against cyberattacks. Israel has the expertise to give the necessary support to intelligence and law enforcement agencies in Brasilia.
Additionally, General Menandro, under the instructions of President Bolsonaro, will articulate a plan to support Brazilian authorities defending the Amazon forest against internal and foreign threats. Brazilians are eager to learn from Israeli authorities on how to preserve nature efficiently.
General Menandro is the best person to be the bridge between these two magnificent countries in this regard as well, since he is very connected and respected in Washington's political corridors and has a deep knowledge of United Nations politics. As a matter of fact, General Menandro was a former special adviser to the Brazilian delegation to the United Nations and had the opportunity to see first-hand the despicable bias against Israel in that international organization.
The nomination of General Menandro as Ambassador to Israel confirms Brazil will be an even more vocal and committed supporter of Israel in the United Nations and will not tolerate the rising anti-Semitism there.
The strategy is clear: President Bolsonaro holds his country's friendship with Israel as a major Brazilian foreign policy pillar that it is not up for debate.
Finally, General Menandro will arrive with a lot of common projects in terms of economic diplomacy. In fact, many Brazilian corporations are interested in investing in Israel in a variety of fields.
And let's not forget that from 2021 on, the diplomatic affairs of Brazil in Israel will be handled in the country's new embassy in the eternal capital of Israel, Jerusalem.
In short: Brazil and Israel are closer than ever and ready to work side by side in the international arena.
