Imposing a stricter lockdown is crucial for saving hundreds, perhaps thousands of Israeli lives. About 30 patients die from the coronavirus every day. Not entering a stricter lockdown is tantamount to abandoning Israelis.
The current plan is to close the country for two weeks, but in order to bring down the coronavirus mortality rate, the country will most likely need to remain in a full lockdown for an additional two weeks. In the meantime, the vaccination campaign will continue in full force.

We can't let some government ministers, Knesset members, doctors, and experts, if we can call them that, distort the picture. They repeatedly claim and spread false information that a lockdown is a false political whim.
Israel is in a challenging and dangerous situation as the infection and morbidity rates continue to rise.
If we do not go into a full lockdown, the situation will deteriorate, and Israel will find itself dealing with infection rates similar to those during the first wave in Italy, France, Britain, and the United States.
The vaccination is indeed the primary means of eradicating the epidemic that has plunged Israel and the world into a health, economic, and social crisis.
But it will take many more months until enough vaccines have been administered to eradicate the pandemic or at least enough to return to everyday life. Many more Israelis have to receive both doses of the vaccine first.
In the past month, Israel failed tragically and inconceivably in dealing with the epidemic because of the paralysis of the government and some of its ministers and MKs who decided to disregard Israeli lives. They think they made decisions that will earn them public admiration, but the price of these decisions is hundreds of new victims from that same public.
To prevent a catastrophe, Israel must immediately enter a full lockdown, as the government has decided, including all education systems and businesses. That is the only way to prevent many more critical patients and deaths.
Israel entered its third wave of such a dangerous and deadly infection wave because of the recent decisions of the Coronavirus Cabinet and Knesset members. Some of them were irresponsible and rejected the Health Ministry recommendations in exiting the second national lockdown.
Coronavirus Cabinet and parliament members are competing with each other in a disgraceful and disastrous competition of who will undermine the lockdown efforts the most. They have managed to crush senior Health Ministry officials and their demands to enter a full lockdown in order to save hundreds of Israelis. Hopefully now, even if it's almost too late, the government is doing that which it should have done more than a month ago, and we will be able to stop the current health catastrophe.
