It turns out the bloc of center-left parties known as Blue and White is nothing but a very amusing tale in the history of Israeli politics that makes even the best political drama on TV look boring.
The Blue and White candidate list has three former chiefs of general staff, a labor union leader and former Finance Minister Yair Lapid.
All four top candidates in the list are micromanaged by public relations gurus who give them talking points and make sure to manipulate the loving media.
Blue and White Chairman Benny Gantz was initially told he should stay silent so that the list would not be associated with either the Left or the Right.
This silence of the lambs gave Blue and White a political dividend until Gantz became Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's impersonator and even lifted some of his speeches.
The saga continued as Gantz withheld information on what embarrassing information Iran found on his phone, then he accused Netanyahu of trying to kill him and finally he lamented that there was a mole in his campaign.
And then this week, it was revealed that the Israel Police and Gantz's now-defunct startup had a shady deal resulting in millions of shekels being funneled without the proper bidding process.
Blue and White has tried to cast itself as the pure party that would usher in an era of no corruption.
The biased media have helped create this false narrative by exaggerating the various corruption investigations against Netanyahu while turning a blind eye to the allegations against Blue and White.
The favorable treatment is clearly evident in how the media has covered the revelations on Blue and White candidate Gabi Ashkenazi's alleged misconduct as chief of general staff and the lack of outrage over the falsified data that Gantz's startup provided the police in order to get millions from the Israel Police.
Gantz was appointed chief of general staff only because there was no other suitable officer at the time.
As a military officer, he was in charge of a hierarchical body that follows orders. It is a world apart from diplomacy, where one has to have leadership and charisma, as well as be articulate and above all – experienced.
Only hubris and recklessness bring people with zero political experience to ask the people to entrust them with the job of prime minister. Running on an "anyone but Netanyahu" platform is just not enough if you want lead Israel.
The Left and the media have waged a smear campaign against Netanyahu and his family.
Various politicians, heirs of the Left's elites who could not accept the fact that the electorate had shifted to the Right, have tried to tag along. They have been joined by disgruntled Likud figures who got used to being the establishment.
Yes, there are legitimate reasons to criticize Netanyahu on his conduct.
But as someone who sat in former Prime Minister Menachem Begin's home, I am not one to reminisce about the good old days.
The country is not what it used to be. We are no longer a small country under siege but a global power. A great number of Israelis are satisfied with their lives and feel financially secure.
Despite the media's criticism over Netanyahu, the voters must not punish themselves, even if they despise Netanyahu. They must not be tempted to vote for parties that are not going to pass the electoral threshold.
