Shikma Bressler, one of the leaders of the anti-judicial reform protests, has recently criticized President Isaac Herzog for holding negotiations over the controversial legislation. She proceeded to call right-wing elements in the government "Nazis" with whom it was "forbidden" to hold a dialogue "whether they are Jewish or not." She later apologized after garnering harsh criticism.

Apparently, the problem with Bressler's statement is not that she called her ring-wing opponents "Jewish Nazis," but that she got caught. It seems that she is not the only one to hold such an opinion, as her words were followed by grand applause, and no Knesset member from the Opposition present at the panel that Bressler spoke at condemned her.
In fact, Bressler was praised for "being a true leader" and "role model."
Many in our people dream of a government of unity, compromise, and dialogue. But every time they get their hopes up, protest leaders – the ones who steer the ship – ruin it.
Every time Opposition leaders dare speak about a potential compromise, in waltzes Bressler with her dangerous comparisons and likening anyone who dares negotiate with the Coalition to Chamberlain.
And it wasn't the first time Bressler used such rhetoric either. She previously called Herzog, and Opposition leaders Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz "the Chamberlains of the camp."
Why? Because if the other side are "Nazis," then there is an excuse to disregard them. Then talks and negotiations are impossible.
Contrary to the Left, which failed to condemn Bressler's horrifying statements, the Right actually spoke out in support of a compromise, such as journalists Yinon Magal, Shimon Riklin, Sharon Gal, Erel Segal, Berale Crombie, who are consistently accused of "destroying Israel."
Neither did they shy away from condemning Likud activist Itzik Zarka when he used Nazi rhetoric to describe the protesters.
Will the silent and sane majority find the strength to unite for a compromise against those who are ready to destroy our country? Time will tell.
