The alarming rise of antisemitism in Portugal

Apparently, supporting Jewish causes and Holocaust remembrance projects so that new generations would never forget the Nazi atrocities is something worthy of a criminal investigation.

Antisemitism has risen to epic proportions in Portugal because of some local media outlets and universities. This antisemitic trend in Portuguese media has forced the authorities to launch an investigation against a Jewish businessman, owner of Chelsea Football Club Roman Abramovich, for having helped the Jewish community in Oporto, Portugal.

The whole antisemitic story is completely bananas, let's not mince the words here – it is pure hate speech against Israel and the Jewish community.  This criminal investigation against the Jewish community from Oporto is a dog whistle for antisemites and Israel haters: Its final aim is not the businessman but the State of Israel and the Jewish people. The end game is to revoke the legitimate "right of return" to all the descendants of Sephardic Jews, expelled from Portugal during the Inquisition.

Had Abramovich not supported the Jewish institutions, the investigation would never have been opened (we have plenty of cases to prove this assertion). As a matter of fact, that very same businessman is known to be a target for the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement.

Abramovich is an ardent fighter against the evil of antisemitism, that is a very noble and so important cause. He should be praised for that; not attacked, let alone be subject to criminal investigation motivated by biased reporting.

Aantisemites will never pass.  No pasarán.
