Throughout history, we have survived difficult, sometimes very grueling tests. We are no strangers to
challenges, but the novel coronavirus is a new kind of enemy, one who places Israel at the forefront of the struggle, along with all the other nations of the world.

"With all our problems and troubles – the people of Israel are alive and well," Prime MinisterMenachem Begin once said. He was referring to the threats facing Israel from the tangible enemies surrounding it. I doubt he ever imagined something like the coronavirus.
The "people of Israel are alive and well " indeed because they have a responsible state that looks out for its security in wartime, and a healthcare system and emergency services that take care of public health as a matter of routine.
Israel is prepared to deal with the challenge this pandemic poses – but this time, victory depends on each and every one of us.
We must demonstrate responsibility, follow Health Ministry instructions, keep morale up, take care of our children and – from afar – our grandparents too. At the end of the day, we must win, because we have no other choice.
Although this new enemy forces us to stay indoors and socially distance from one another, we are always together. Look at our flag – it unifies all of us Israelis; be they Jews, Arabs, Christians or Druze. Everyone. Independence Day is still a long way off, but it's time to get the flags out and hang them from windows, balconies, and rooftops. Fly the flag nationwide and sweep the nation with a show of solidarity and unity.
Just as the coronavirus does not differentiate between the people it threatens, our flag does not differentiate between the people it safeguards. Look at the flag and remember, we are together, always.
