Should Palestinian athletes be allowed in the Paris Olympics?

So far, no steps have been taken to deny Palestinian Authority from taking part in the 2024 games, as if none of the recent terror attacks took place thanks to its incitement.

It was recently reported that three Palestinian terrorists were eliminated while attempting to implement a terror attack in the Jenin area. This occurred after an Israeli patrolman was murdered in a terror attack in Tel Aviv. Since the beginning of the year, 26 people have been killed in terror attacks across Israel, Judea and Samaria.  This recent wave of terror attacks is directly connected to the incitement that is permeating Palestinian society, led by the Palestinian Authority leadership.

For example, according to Palestinian Media Watch, the ruling Fatah Party hosted 648 summer camps this summer, where Fatah Central Committee Secretary Jibril Rajob claimed children were educated about "martyr heroes, who are the moon, the stars, the elite and the ones who sacrificed their lives."  In one of these summer camps, Palestinian Media Watch documented how the children performed a play, where Israeli soldiers attacked a Palestinian kneeling in prayer. By having the children do this play, they are indoctrinated into believing that Israelis are cold-blooded and heartless, and thus from there it is easier to convince young Palestinians to kill Israelis in terror attacks.

Palestinian Media Watch also interviewed children at PA summer camps, who reported, "At the [summer] camp we learned names of martyrs, including Muhammad Al-Azizi 'Abu Saleh' (i.e., terrorist). Izz Al-Din Salahat (i.e., terrorist) died in 2022 as a Martyr." Sadly, Palestinians are not just exposed to this kind of incitement in summer camps; they are also exposed to it in schools, in mosques, in the media, in online social networks, and from the mouths of their own leaders.  Mahmoud Al Habbash, Abbas' advisor on Islam, recently stated that the Jews are "Satan" in human form who are fighting to get Muslims to "turn their back on their religion."

Given such incitement, it should not surprise us that not only was a patrolman murdered in Tel Aviv this summer, but six Israelis were wounded in a terror attack in Ma'ale Adumim, that nine Israelis were wounded in a car-ramming attack in July or that three Jews were wounded in a terror attack in Tekoa that same month, and the list just goes on.

And yet, despite the fact that the Palestinian Authority leadership systematically condones this violence, Palestinian athletes are still going to be competing in the Paris Olympics, as if none of these terror attacks took place and the Palestinian Authority was not inciting violence against a UN member state.  This is a complete and utter outrage.

Countries like the Czech Republic ban Russian athletes from partaking in sporting events within their borders. Russian tennis player Vera Zvonareva was barred recently from Poland. In recent years, Russia has been entirely banned from participating in the Olympic Games due to the crimes against humanity that they have committed in Ukraine.

But according to an article published in the Russian media titled "Visa with a trick," this year, the International Olympic Committee is banning Russians from partaking in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris unless they are ideologically opposed to the war in Ukraine, act under a neutral flag, and have nothing to do with the Russian security agencies. In other words, the restrictions against Russians have been lessened, but not eliminated. However, Russian athletes faced these restrictions, even though Putin never glorified terror as badly as Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his government have. Yet, the Palestinian Authority still gets to compete as if nothing happened, without any restrictions. This is a sham that should be challenged at every available opportunity.
