It's becoming exceedingly clear that US President Joe Biden's visit to Israel will be followed by news that a nuclear deal with Iran is on the verge of being finalized, and that the Americans have already put a proposal on the table.

"They are running toward a deal," Ayelet Frisch told Channel 12 News. We should heed her words; she knows what she's talking about.
The Americans are promising – as Biden recently said – that the Iranians will never have a nuclear weapon. The only question mark is: When they say "never," what do they mean? Amid the chaos of the greeting ceremony at Ben Gurion Airport, reporters pounced on former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who reiterated the simple message: Sanctions of any kind are not enough; they need to be accompanied by a credible military option. We haven't seen this from the Americans.
On the way to a nuclear deal
If you will, though, I would like to pause for a moment on the "deeper context." That is to say, the optimism one must have, and the sense that there's a force willing and ready to fight for what's good in the world; that being the United States. The United States, similar to Israel, is a country that works to make the world a better place. Indeed, as Biden touched down in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, reports emerged of over 9% inflation in the US.
The American president's speech yesterday was exhilarating to an extent. "Shared values" and "democracy" are slogans, and often ring a bit hollow. What Biden said was that the two countries, one gigantic and the other tiny, are sisters united against countries and non-state actors that represent evil. President Herzog called him "our brother Joseph."
When the US isn't around, not to mention completely missing, evil takes over. When it takes the reins, the world looks different, better, with a vision for a wide-open future.
Israel was born into an American world in the wake of World War II and is an important player among peace-loving nations. Biden, however, has arrived from a United States where the rising forces of progressive darkness believe their country is evil and predicated on racism. And of course – whoever hates America, also hates Israel.
Biden's visit and the display of air-defense weaponry signal joint Israeli-American commitment, which should project deterrence to Iran and its proxies.
It was Defense Minister Benny Gantz's show. Prime Minister Yair Lapid somehow disappeared amid the honor guard, weapons, and officers who escorted the visiting dignitaries. Merav Michaeli, perhaps coincidentally, sat next to Netanyahu and received considerable camera time.
Because a presidential visit of this sort is planned to the very last detail, we can assume Biden will update the Saudis about the nuclear deal he is about to sign, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's reward will be international legitimacy, and perhaps he will even contribute his country's oil-producing capabilities to reducing global gas prices. We will have to wait and see.
