A new government is on the way. Even Naftali Bennett's religious Zionist supporters, the ones who are stirred by the move, admit the significance of this coalition. "The impression is that these indictments are personal persecution to oust him [Netanyahu] from his post โฆ that justification drowns in a sea of explanations why he should resign," one of the leadership symbols of the religious kibbutz movement, Yochanan Ben-Yaacov, wrote a few days ago.

Many of the impassioned people who responded to his harsh comments against the "divisive" prime minister also admit that the cases are stitched up. Still, they refuse to see the wrong at the root of the paralyzing political crisis of the last two years. That is what I was told by a member of the settlement elite.
The worst thing is that Bennett knows he is about to become prime minister based on a bitter, hysteric wave of hatred for Netanyahu, a wave of Bibiphobia that is nothing less than secondary antisemitism.
Behind the smoke grenades, the country is being sold to Avigdor Lieberman. He is the reason why Israel was damaged by repeated undecided elections. Even though he knowingly led Israel into a crisis, he benefits from it. Not only as a minister who will in effect be an inside prime minister, but because this entire time he and other MKs from his party have waged a campaign of hatred. Yisrael Beytenu behaves like a shady business under the guise of a political "party" Its members led a campaign of COVID denial, and tried to block the vaccine campaign.
But on this happy day, when a strong-arm minority tramples most of the people, let us remember โ who, Mr. Bennett, would you really have wanted to see in office these past two years, other than Netanyahu? With anyone else, including members of the newly-formed coalition, we'd still be eating masks for dinner and crying out that our people were dying.
While the government that is being called the worst in Israel's history was in power, great strides were made, in addition to Israel being the first country in the world to contain the pandemic. Economic growth was restored, we saw improved numbers and a diplomatic and operational campaign against Iran's nuclear weapons program, and the Abraham Accords, which it's doubtful the new government will be able to protect.
Going into a government with a budget and ministers eager to intervene in citizens' lives, it's possible that we might wind up missing the "paralyzed" government. The multiple warnings about "threats" to future ministers is worrying; the main goal that will unite the government will almost certainly be to oppress the Right, freedom of speech, and attempts to throttle any protest. Wait for a fine distinction between "legitimate" and "illegitimate" protests. The police are thirsty for backing from the government and the Supreme Court and the State Attorney's Office. It could hurt us to the bone.
