Securing Israel’s borders while battling delegitimization of Israel – this is Dore Gold’s vital and admirable legacy.
Dr. Miriam Adelson and family gather at Mount of Olives cemetery to honor memory of Jewish philanthropist and Israel Hayom founder 4 years after his passing.
At the opening of the event, Prof. Reichman praised the Adelsons for having helped build the Adelson School of Entrepreneurship and the university, whose students rank seventh place in the world in the number of unicorns in colleges with fewer than 15,000 students. Sheldon Adelson's widow Dr. Miriam Adelson told the audience that Israel will prevail in the war, because "a nation that sanctifies life chooses life. Hamas cannot defeat the Start-Up Nation."
"If Sheldon was with us today he would fully support Israel in its righteous battle. Sheldon would have looked at Gaza and placed responsibility solely on Hamas, and only on Hamas," his widow, Israel Hayom publisher Dr. Miriam Adelson, said at the memorial event.
Israel Hayom Editor-in-Chief Omer Lachmanovitch eulogizes Israeli, saying, “Raz was a creative spirit imbued with passion and delicate touch. He loved and lived culture with every fiber of his being and contributed heavily to that world through his significant journalistic work. He will be greatly missed by his former colleagues at Israel Hayom. We all share the pain of the family.”
“It is hard to imagine the existence of Israeli art, our anthems, the worlds of literature and theater without his unique and unforgettable contribution,” President Isaac Herzog said of Geffen after his death.
Against the backdrop of Jerusalem's Old City walls, family and friends gathered at his gravesite.
The Adelson family, joined by close friends, gathered in Jerusalem to mark the one-year anniversary of Sheldon Adelson's death, reflecting on the life of one of the biggest philanthropists in Israel's history.
"Sheldon was so full of passion and compassion, so abounding in dreams and diligence. He squeezed dozens of lifetimes and careers into his 87 and a half years. Someone who burns that bright cannot but leave an afterglow when he is gone" • Dr. Miriam Adelson, Israel Hayom's publisher, pays tribute to her late husband, philanthropist, Sheldon Adelson, who passed away a year ago.
The first issue of Israel Hayom appeared on July 30, 2007. Israel Hayom was founded on the belief that the Israeli public deserves better, more balanced and more accurate journalism. Journalism that speaks, not shouts. Journalism of a different kind. And free of charge.
