Despite over 1,500 rockets being launched toward Israel from the Gaza Strip, coalition talks between Yamina head Naftali Bennett and Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid ongoing.
Those close to Defense Minister Benny Gantz, however, say the security situation is his only focus at the moment.
Yesh Atid and Yamina's leaders are expected to reach an agreement within days as the Islamist Ra'am party is poised to endorse the Lapid-Bennett government.

Newly tapped PM-designate said that the differences of his would be coalition will not be overcome overnight.

As PM Netanyahu's mandate has expired, the president now has a choice between tasking the heads of Yesh Atid or Yamina with forming a coalition or handing the mandate over to parliament. If neither move proves successful, elections – Israel's fifth in two years – will be called.
