The US special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, has proposed an interim deal aimed at securing the release of 5 to 6 living hostages, along with the return of several dead hostages, in exchange for a 45 to 50 day ceasefire. During this period, negotiations for the next phase of the hostage deal would continue.

Reuters reported that Adam Boehler, President Donald Trump's Envoy for Hostages, met overnight with representatives of Hamas as well as officials from Egypt and Qatar. The discussions focused on the governance of Gaza following the war. An Israeli official responded, saying, "Israel is not aware of progress toward Phase 2."
