Yanis Yushbaev, a 40-year-old married father of three who has had run-ins with law-enforcement officials for his alleged involvement in underworld crimes, was murdered on Sunday by gunfire at a gas station near Caesarea. Magen David Adom first-responder teams who arrived at the scene provided him with medical treatment and evacuated him to the nearby Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in critical condition, unconscious and while undergoing CPR – where his death was pronounced.
MDA stated that the report about the incident was received at 15:51. Medics and paramedics who arrived at the scene noticed a man with no pulse and not breathing, suffering from significant penetrating injuries to his body.

MDA medics Idan Elmaliah and Shoham Asraf, along with MDA motorcycle unit medic Elchanan Kfir, who were at the shooting scene, said, "When we arrived at the scene of the incident we noticed a man about 45 years old unconscious, with no pulse and not breathing and suffering from significant penetrating injuries to his body. While performing advanced CPR and initial treatment for his injuries, we evacuated him to the hospital with his condition defined as critical and us fighting for his life."
Yushbaev, a resident of Or Akiva (a city near Caesarea), was known to the police and considered one of the most prominent and dangerous intelligence targets of the Hadera police and the central unit of the Coastal District.
In recent years he was arrested many times on suspicion of involvement in a series of severe incidents, including throwing fragmentation grenades at homes and businesses in Hadera and Or Akiva, shooting at private homes, and setting fire to dozens of vehicles.
The police stated that officers from the Hadera station have opened an investigation into the incident and begun collecting evidence and searching for suspects. Israel Police Commissioner Dani Levy also arrived at the scene. The police emphasized that this is the initial stage of a criminal incident, and that further details are expected to become clear later.
