Ahead of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington, a senior political source estimates that it may be possible to persuade US President Donald Trump to show flexibility regarding the 17% tariff he imposed on Israeli exports to the US.
The source noted that Israel's preliminary move to reduce tariffs on American goods was positively received by the Trump administration. Netanyahu's willingness to travel to Washington immediately at the president's request is also a factor appreciated by the White House. In addition, Israel Hayom has learned that the central focus of the talks between Trump and Netanyahu will be security issues.

As a reminder, President Trump announced last week the imposition of sweeping tariffs on nearly all goods imported into the United States.
He referred to the move as "our declaration of economic independence" and "one of the most important days" in American history. "We are finally putting America first," Trump declared. US media reported that the administration believes the recent tariff measures could add more than $6 trillion to the federal treasury.
