Millions of Israelis sought shelter early Sunday morning as air raid sirens sounded throughout Central Israel and the Judean Foothills, following the launch of a ballistic missile from Yemen by Houthi forces.
The incident occurred amid ongoing US aerial operations against Houthi targets in Yemen and only days after a previous missile attack on Israeli territory by the same group.
The IDF said the missile was intercepted before it could reach Israeli airspace, and that the the sirens heard as far north as the Sharon region and as far east as the Jerusalem region were due to the potential trajectory of the missile had it not been intercepted.

This latest attack comes amid an escalation in the Houthis' campaign against Israel, which began last year in what the Yemen-based group describes as solidarity with Palestinians.
The US military continues its efforts to degrade Houthi capabilities, particularly those used to target shipping in the Red Sea and launch long-range strikes against Israel.
