Central Israel came under rocket fire Thursday as three launches from southern Gaza triggered alert systems, with the Israeli Air Force intercepting one rocket while two others landed in unpopulated areas. Hamas has claimed responsibility for the attack, marking the first rocket attack from Gaza in months.

The rocket fire comes hours after Houthi rebels in Yemen fired a ballistic missile toward Israeli territory, and follows the collapse of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas that had been in place since mid-January. The ceasefire officially ended on Sunday, leading to a resumption of hostilities.

This incident marks the first rocket attack from Gaza directed at Israel in several months. During the recent ceasefire period, Hamas made two attempted rocket launches that failed and landed within Gaza's borders rather than reaching Israeli territory.
