Fear of terrorist infiltration from Jordan ruled out. Israeli security forces began searches around 10:00 a.m. local time on Sunday after an unusual detection near the border with Jordan. IDF troops, emergency response teams, and police officers conducted extensive sweeps in the area. As part of the search efforts, two Israel Air Force combat helicopters were dispatched to patrol near Israeli communities.
More than an hour later, the IDF confirmed that there was no infiltration and that residents could resume their normal routines.
Just last week, the heads of regional councils from the Jordan Valley to the Eilot region, representing dozens of communities, announced the formation of the "Security Belt Forum." This initiative aims to establish a unified front among all local authorities along Israel's eastern border with Jordan, which has become an additional front of concern. Defense Minister Israel Katz is expected to meet with them soon.
