A convicted terrorist released just last week in the Hamas hostage exchange deal has died after falling from a roof, marking a dramatic end to his brief freedom after serving 20 years of seven life sentences for his role in one of the Second Intifada's deadliest attacks.
Naa'el Abid fell from a significant height near his residence in the Issawiya neighborhood of east Jerusalem and was evacuated in critical condition for medical treatment. His death was reported shortly after.

Abid was convicted of assisting in the suicide bombing at Cafe Hillel in Jerusalem in 2002, which left seven people dead and 57 wounded. The Cafe Hillel attack, in which Abid was involved, was one of the most severe attacks during the Second Intifada.
Abid was sentenced to seven life terms plus 30 years in prison. He was released during the previous phase of the prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas after serving approximately 20 years of his sentence.
