The ongoing conflict has created unprecedented economic challenges for women across Israel, with working mothers facing a particularly complex situation as they attempt to balance childcare responsibilities amid educational disruptions while maintaining careers during their partners' extended reserve duty service.

A significant number of women have encountered what experts describe as a "double burden": sustaining household income while independently managing childcare and domestic responsibilities during their partners' military service. This dual challenge has generated both financial strain and emotional stress, with female-dominated sectors including education, tourism, and retail experiencing severe disruption.

Female entrepreneurs, who constitute a substantial portion of small business owners in Israel, have faced particularly severe challenges, with businesses in peripheral areas experiencing acute difficulties. Single mothers have emerged as an especially vulnerable group, often lacking the benefit of extended family support systems or financial reserves.

Several innovative solutions have emerged in response to these challenges, including specialized relief funds targeting women facing economic hardship, flexible remote work initiatives enabling continued employment, and community-based support networks offering childcare assistance. These programs aim to provide both immediate relief and sustainable long-term support.

The war's economic ramifications for women are projected to extend well beyond the immediate crisis, potentially exacerbating gender-based wage disparities, creating barriers to workforce reentry and professional advancement, and impacting long-term savings and pension accumulation. This situation has underscored the necessity for coordinated policy responses involving government, business sector, and civil society stakeholders to support women through this challenging period.
