United States President Donald Trump welcomed to his inaugural parade two survivors of Hamas captivity: Noa Argamani, freed in an IDF operation, and Shoshan Haran, released during November 2023 negotiations. They were joined by families of current hostages, wearing yellow scarves symbolizing the ongoing campaign for their loved ones' return.
Steve Whitcoff, Trump's Middle East envoy, introduced the assembled families. Some have lost their children and loved ones, and are participating in efforts to secure their relatives' remains for dignified burial, Whitcoff said. The crowd responded with a standing ovation, chanting "Bring Them Home" as Trump spoke with each family before taking the podium.
Now the real work begins, we must bring them home, Trump said. Referencing Emily Damari's recent release, the president described, One of them tried to shield herself from gunfire and they severed her finger – can you imagine such a thing?

Addressing the families, Trump said, Our prayers have never ceased for you, and we share in the joy of your reunion with families and friends, may God bless you all – none of this should ever have happened.
The president then compared the situation to Jan. 6 detainees from the 2020 Capitol events following his loss to Biden. Tonight I will grant pardons to the January 6 detainees, to secure their release, he announced.
At the White House Oval Office, when asked about Israel-Hamas ceasefire prospects, Trump said he was not sure, adding, This isn't our war – it's their war.
Regarding Gaza's future, Trump said, Gaza needs to be rebuilt differently. It's remarkable, really – a phenomenal location on the coastline with spectacular weather. The potential for beautiful development is there.
Following the parade, at the White House, Trump revoked multiple presidential orders from his predecessor's administration. He canceled sanctions imposed on dozens of Israeli citizens over the past year – individuals accused of disturbing public order or engaging in violence against Palestinians. This action restores full banking privileges to these account holders.
