One day before his official inauguration, President-elect Donald Trump addressed supporters at a celebratory Washington rally, discussing the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and the release of three hostages in the initial phase. Trump declared that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas "was only possible thanks to our historic victory."
"This week we achieved an epic ceasefire agreement as a first step toward lasting peace in the Middle East," Donald Trump declared to the energized crowd. "This agreement could only have happened as a result of our historic victory in November... I'm glad to report that the first hostages have just been released."
"Our incoming administration has achieved all of this in the Middle East in less than three months without being president. We've achieved more than they've achieved in four years with being president," Trump stated, directing another pointed criticism at his predecessor, outgoing President Joe Biden while commending the efforts of Steve Whitkoff, his designated Middle East envoy.
