Following the Iranian-backed Hamas attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, the situation throughout the Middle East has become increasingly volatile. Both Iran and Israel have launched unprecedented attacks, with Israel facing a multi-front war against Iran and its proxies.
However, the Iran problem is not confined to the Middle East alone. Beyond targeting Americans through cyberattacks and plotting assassinations of US officials, Iran appears to have expanded its presence in Latin America.
In June, the Iranian regime finalized a significant 20-year cooperation agreement with Venezuela. Iran's proxy, Hezbollah, already operates military training centers in restricted areas of Venezuela, providing Tehran with opportunities to target US interests and extend its influence throughout Latin America.
By positioning its proxies closer to US borders, Iran is expanding its reach beyond the Middle East and posing a more tangible, far-reaching threat.
