Lebanon deal appears imminent after late-night PM-Hochstein meeting

Diplomatic source says agreement "is a matter of days, perhaps less." Proposed 60-day plan said to include IDF withdrawal and Hezbollah retreat north of the Litani river.

Day 416 of War: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US special envoy Amos Hochstein hold overnight meeting, discussing the Lebanon war. In the Gaza Strip, Palestinian reports of strikes in Nuseirat area. White House strongly condemns murder of Chabad emissary Rabbi Zvi Kogan, saying, "Our prayers are with his family."

9:12 a.m.: According to Lebanon's Al-Akhbar newspaper, ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Lebanon face multiple contradictions. The report indicates that Lebanon describes a reality where there are leaks about significant progress toward an agreement on one hand, while citing difficulties preventing its implementation on the other. Lebanese President Najib Mikati responded to the IDF's strike against Lebanese army positions in the south, which killed and wounded Lebanese soldiers, calling it "a clear message of blood rejecting efforts and dialogue for a ceasefire."

8:57 a.m.: Western Galilee rocket barrage: A taxi was hit by shrapnel, no injuries reported yet.

8:47 a.m.: Diplomatic source: "It's a matter of days, perhaps less, until signing of the arrangement agreement in Lebanon."

8:46 a.m.: Western Galilee rocket barrage: Approximately 20 launches identified, some intercepted. A 75-year-old man was lightly injured by shrapnel to his head.

8:35 a.m.: Sirens sounding in Nahariya and several Western Galilee communities - no casualties reported yet.

7:49 a.m.: IDF and the Shin Bet security agency eliminated the Hamas intelligence chief of the East Jabalia Battalion and another terrorist who infiltrated Israel and participated in the Oct. 7 massacre.

7:35 a.m.: In a special discussion held last night at the Prime Minister's Office, it was decided to advance efforts for a ceasefire in Lebanon. A senior Israeli official noted progress but indicated some issues remain open. The expected arrangement includes IDF withdrawal from southern Lebanon and Hezbollah fighters' retreat north of the Litani River, as part of a 60-day agreement.

7:08 a.m.: Lebanese Health Ministry updates: approximately 3,754 deaths and 15,626 injuries since the beginning of fighting in October 2023.

7:00 a.m.: IDF Spokesperson: Home Front Command siren test will be held today at 10:05 a.m. in Ein Gedi.

4:00 a.m.: Palestinian reports of strikes in the Nuseirat area in central Gaza.

1:50 a.m.: The White House announced it is working in close coordination with Israel and the UAE following the murder of Rabbi Zvi Kogan. Sean Savett, National Security Council spokesperson, stated, "We strongly condemn the murder of Rabbi Zvi Kogan in the UAE and our prayers are with his family."

10:30 p.m.: Arabs threw stones at a bus on the Gush Etzion-Hebron road north of Carmei Tzur junction. No injuries reported.

10:10 p.m.: IDF struck 12 Hezbollah military headquarters in Dahiyeh, Beirut: Intelligence headquarters, Unit 4400, and the organization's coastal missile unit were targeted. IDF stated that all targets were deliberately positioned by Hezbollah in the heart of the civilian population, demonstrating the terrorist organization's cynical use of Lebanese civilians as human shields.
