The interception was carried out at high altitude, which led to the fall of many fragments. The sirens and explosions heard were the result of the interception process and interception debris, forcing about two million residents, including MK Benny Gantz who returned from Berlin, to enter shelters.
As mentioned, the firing from Yemen comes after Hezbollah confirmed the assassination of Mohammed Srour, a senior member of the organization who was a military advisor to the Houthis in the previous decade.

In a pinpointed strike in Beirut's Dahiyah neighborhood and Hezbollah stronghold, the IDF forces attacked successfully eliminated the commander of Hezbollah's air disposition and the person responsible for UAVs in the terro group, Mohammed Srur, known by his jihadi nickname "Abu Saleh". The IDF spokesperson stated: "The terrorist Srour promoted, directed, and commanded many aerial terror operations including drone attacks, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles directed at the Israeli home front. In recent years, he was one of the leaders of projects to produce unmanned aerial vehicles in Lebanon, established sites for producing explosive and reconnaissance UAVs in Lebanon, some of which were located under civilian buildings in Beirut and other areas in Lebanon."

Srour, according to the IDF spokesperson, "joined the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the 1980s and performed various roles including commander in the ground-to-air missile unit, the 'Aziz' unit in the Radwan force, and served as Hezbollah's envoy to Yemen on the issue of the Houthi terrorist regime's air array. During the war, he plotted and carried out many unmanned aerial vehicle attack plans, including unmanned aerial vehicles, reconnaissance and explosive vehicles, aimed against the Israeli home front and IDF forces. The IDF will continue to act to reduce the capabilities of the Hezbollah terrorist organization and dismantle the organization's command echelon."
According to a Lebanese report, the air force launched three missiles at a building in Lebanon – resulting in a total of four dead and four wounded.
The head of the air array was supposed to step into the shoes of others who were eliminated in IDF attacks in recent months. The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the building attacked from the air is 10 stories high, packed with apartments. Rescue teams and ambulances are operating at the scene, and so far four deaths have been reported.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the assassination operation in Beirut en route to NY, where he was set to aress the UN General Assembly.
Since the beginning of the war in October, Israel has eliminated very senior commanders in Hezbollah, who manned the top command of the terrorist organization. Now Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah is left with a hole in his "General Staff", the body that is supposed to manage the campaign against Israel in case of a full-scale war. Meanwhile, in the shadow of reports on efforts for a ceasefire in the north with American-French mediation, at noon the IDF spokesperson updated that this morning an exercise of the 7th Armored Brigade combat team was completed, led by the National Ground Training Center, simulating maneuvering in Lebanese territory – a few kilometers from the border.
Against the background of reports regarding attempts to reach a 21-day ceasefire in the fighting in the north, Netanyahu's office announced that "the news about a ceasefire are incorrect. This is an American-French proposal, to which the prime minister hasn't even responded."
