Israeli security officials have confirmed that a recent airstrike in Beirut, attributed to Israel, failed to eliminate senior Hezbollah commander Ali Karaki. The operation's outcome is reportedly linked to the type of munitions used by the Israeli Air Force, as authorities aim to minimize civilian casualties in urban areas.
Security sources explained to Israel Hayom that on Friday afternoon, during the elimination of Ibrahim Aqil – also in the heart of Beirut – the IDF used very heavy munitions that brought down the building where Akil and 15 senior Radwan Force figures were staying.
The building collapsed and many civilians were injured. This also gave Hezbollah an excuse to fire toward civilian areas in Israel.
This time, there was an attempt to use different munitions, in order not to harm uninvolved individuals, but still try to eliminate Karaki.
