A newly released report from the Alma Research and Education Center reveals a worrying escalation of Hezbollah's aggression against northern Israel. Since the beginning of September, the organization has launched over 30 attacks targeting areas beyond the 3.1-mile evacuation zone along the Lebanese border, putting civilian populations at unprecedented risk.
These attacks on non-evacuated areas comprised 21 high-trajectory firing incidents, launching 365 rockets – 65% of the total 560 rockets fired at Israel this month. Additionally, nine incidents involved explosive drone deployments. This marks a significant increase from August, which saw 45 firing incidents on non-evacuated zones.
Hezbollah claims these attacks were retaliations for the elimination of its operatives or civilian casualties in Lebanon, regardless of IDF operation locations. The past week (Sept. 9-16) saw a clear escalation, with 80 attacks surpassing the previous weekly average of 61. Of these, 18 specifically targeted non-evacuated areas.
From Sept. 1-16, 163 attack incidents were recorded, broken down as follows:
Some 93 high-trajectory firing incidents (approximately 560 rockets) 34 drone launch incidents 23 anti-tank missile firing incidents 11 incidents with unidentified weaponry 2 surface-to-air missile incidents targeting Israeli Air Force aircraft
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for 140 attacks, while Al-Fajr (the military wing of Jamaa Islamiyya) took credit for two, and Hamas and the Lebanese Brigades for Resistance against Israeli Control each claimed one. The remaining 18 incidents are unattributed.
Most attacks concentrated in the eastern sector from Safed eastward (92 incidents), with 67 targeting the western sector. These figures exclude two drone interceptions of unknown location and two surface-to-air missile firings at an Israeli drone and fighter jet.
