Iran's top diplomat in Lebanon Mojtaba Amani has forcefully rejected reports of his alleged defection to Israel, characterizing them as a deliberate misinformation effort. The statement, issued via social media, underscores the ongoing tensions and information warfare in the region.
Amani, Iran's ambassador to Lebanon, took to social media on Wednesday to refute swirling rumors about his supposed defection to Israel. The diplomat dismissed the claims as part of a "Zionist plot" designed to spread false information.

"Salam Alaikum," Amini wrote on his X account, addressing his followers. "These rumors have been disseminated by Israeli psychological warfare networks, stemming from their apprehension about potential Iranian responses. Such baseless claims do not merit any consideration."
In recent days Iran and Israel have been clashing rhetorically after Tehran blamed Israel for assassinating Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on its soil in late July. Iran's leaders have vowed to retaliate for the breach of their sovereignty, even though Israel has not taken responsibility for the event.
