One soldier was killed Monday morning after Israel's northern communities came under heavy fire as a barrage of drones and rockets launched from Lebanon by the Hezbollah terrorist organization struck the Western Galilee region.
He was named as Chief Warrant Officer Mahmood Amaria, 45, a tracker in the 300th "Baram" Regional Brigade, from Ibtin.
The assault triggered widespread air raid sirens and prompted swift responses from defense and emergency services.

Reports indicate that several people sustained injuries, likely from a direct hit in the Western Galilee area.
The border town of Ya'ara, situated between the Western and Upper Galilee regions, saw the outbreak of a brush fire following the impact of projectiles. Local firefighting teams scrambled to contain the spreading flames.
An IDF spokesperson verified that multiple suspicious aerial objects had infiltrated from Lebanese territory. The official stated that while some were successfully intercepted, others managed to reach the Ya'ara area. In a subsequent attack, a volley of 10 projectiles targeted the community of Zar'it.
Hezbollah has been targeting northern Israel unprovoked since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, in which terrorists killed 1,200 Israelis, mostly civilians, and took over 240 hostages. In its deadliest attack yet, it hit a football field in the border town of Majdal Shams, killing 12 children.
