A Norwegian passenger successfully flew from Munich to Sweden without a plane ticket, and perhaps even more alarmingly, while carrying a knife, according to a report by the German site Bild.
The 39-year-old passenger managed to stick close to other passengers and pass through the boarding gate at Munich Airport, according to confirmation by local police to the German news site. The incident occurred about a week and a half ago, on Aug. 4, at Germany's second-largest airport.

In the first instance, when the man attempted to board a plane without a ticket, he was caught because the plane was fully booked and there was no seat available for him. However, on his second attempt, he succeeded and flew to Sweden without a ticket.
Swedish police became suspicious of the passenger when, after landing, he attempted to fly back to Munich. Upon inspection, they discovered a knife with a blade approximately 10 centimeters (about 4 inches) long. However, according to the report, the passenger was not a security threat.
The German police commented on the incident in response to media inquiries, "We are investigating how the passenger managed to bypass the automatic boarding pass check before the security screening. The airline is also reviewing the boarding pass check at the boarding gates, where it is responsible for the verification."
