Earlier, the IAF conducted a targeted strike in southern Lebanon, eliminating Ali Jamal al-Din Jawad, a prominent commander in Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force. The operation was swiftly followed by additional strikes on military structures and terror targets belonging to Hezbollah in the Mufaydin region, with four terrorists killed there.

The strikes in Lebanon come amid growing concerns over potential retaliatory actions by Iran and its proxies, including Hezbollah, following the recent assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. US officials have expressed uncertainty regarding the timing and specifics of potential attacks against Israel, with reports indicating that the regime has been observed moving missile launchers and conducting military exercises.

Concurrent with operations in Lebanon, the IDF has intensified its activities in the West Bank, particularly in Jenin. The IAF carried out multiple airstrikes against armed terror cells during a security operation in the area. The first strike targeted two attackers on a motorcycle who were firing at Israeli forces, while a second strike was directed at a separate terror cell engaged in shooting at the forces. The total number of terrorists killed in Lebanon and the West Bank totaled 10.

In response to the developments, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin held discussions with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The two officials agreed that recent rocket attacks on US forces in Iraq, attributed to pro-Iranian militias, represent a dangerous escalation and underscore Iran's destabilizing role in the region. Austin confirmed that the United States is taking steps to bolster its military presence in the area, demonstrating ongoing support for Israel's defense.

The situation has prompted high-level briefings in Washington, with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris receiving updates from the National Security team on the threats posed by Iran and its proxies. The White House emphasized ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions and achieve a ceasefire, while also preparing for potential military support to Israel if attacked.
