00:56 IDF recovers bodies of five hostages from Gaza
The IDF has recovered the bodies of five hostages from the Khan Younis area of the Gaza Strip, the military announced Wednesday evening. The operation took place after the IDF received intelligence on the whereabouts of the bodies.
The remains were identified as those of civilians Maya Goren, 56, Oren Goldin, 33, and Ravid Katz, 51 as well as soldiers Staff Sgt. Tomer Yaakov Ahimas, 20, and Sgt. Kiril Brodski, 19.

The family of Goren, a Nir Oz kindergarten teacher, was informed in December of her death. She was killed on Oct. 7. Her partner, Avner, too was killed in the massacre. Goren leaves behind four children.
Brodski was serving in the Gaza Division's Southern Brigade when the attack began on Oct. 7. He was quickly dispatched to Kibbutz Nirim, where he and his fellow soldiers soldiers engaged in fierce combat against terrorists.
"Kiril fell in battle, but he and his comrades at the command post saved an entire kibbutz. They are true heroes of Israel," his mother told Israel Hayom in an earlier interview.

A funeral was held for Ahimas in November, following official confirmation of his death. Ahimas too served in the Gaza Division's Southern Brigade alongside Brodski. His twin brother Amir shared a poignant memory with Israel Hayom last May, "On Oct. 7, I messaged Tomer, 'Let me know you're okay,' but I never received a reply."
The family of Goldin, from Nir Yitzhak, received confirmation of his death a month after the Oct. 7 attack. He leaves behind a wife and two-year-old twins. A member of the kibbutz's emergency response team, Goldin was remembered by community members as "the first to respond" when the attack began.
Katz, from Nir Oz, was fighting terrorists who flooded the kibbutz, when he was killed and his body abducted.
