The first survey following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump reveals that the severe incident did not affect the gap between the Republican presidential candidate and the incumbent president, Joe Biden.

According to the Reuters poll conducted after the assassination attempt, Trump receives 43% support compared to Biden's 41% – a gap within the statistical margin of error.
At the same time, the assassination attempt has sparked significant anxiety in American society: 80% of survey participants said they fear the country is "spiraling out of control." The rate of those who believe this was similar among both Republicans and Democrats.
Some 84% expressed concern that extremists will resort to violence after the elections - an increase from the figure reported in May, which stood at 74%.
Additionally, 67% said they are worried about violence being directed at their community due to its political views - an increase from 60% who expressed such concern in a survey conducted last June.
