In a recent interview on The Sage Steele Show, Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX) shared what he called his "favorite President Trump story," shedding light on the former president's negotiation tactics with Taliban leaders during discussions about US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, Colorado Politics reports.

Hunt described a scene where Former President Donald Trump, alongside then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, engaged in talks with Taliban representatives. According to Hunt, Trump's approach was direct and forceful. The former president reportedly told the Taliban leaders, "If you harm a hair on a single American, I will kill you." At that point, the shocked translator looked at Trump to confirm that he wanted that bit translated to which he affirmed his stance.
The Texas congressman recounted Trump's dramatic gesture: "Reached into his pocket, pulled out a satellite photo of the leader of the Taliban's home, and handed it to him, got up, and walked out the room."
Hunt emphasized the effectiveness of this strategy, noting that no US residents died in Afghanistan for 18 months during Trump's presidency. He referred to this as "the definition of strength," contrasting it with what he perceives as "feckless leadership" under President Joe Biden.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), also present during the interview, added to the criticism of the current administration. He claimed that seven US embassies have been lost under Biden's leadership, asserting that this is unprecedented in US history. Donalds attributed this to what he sees as "weak" leadership, arguing that US adversaries are taking advantage of the situation.
"It's no different than the bully in the schoolyard. If you're timid and the bully knows he can get away with it, what happens? He comes for your lunch money every single week, every single day, until you punch back."
Both Hunt and Donalds have been vocal supporters of Trump's 2024 presidential bid. Hunt's Hellfire PAC recently funded an ad campaign in several states, highlighting what they claim are Biden's "discriminatory policies" and "racially insensitive" remarks.
Donalds, who endorsed Trump in April 2023, is rumored to be on the former president's shortlist for potential vice presidential candidates.
