US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are expected to meet in Washington in a few weeks, during Netanyahu's visit to the US for his planned speech before Congress on July 24th, according to a CNN report.
American and Israeli officials are still working on arranging the details of the meeting, which is likely to be held at the White House, a source told CNN. A White House official told CNN that Biden has known Netanyahu for decades, and that "They will likely see each other when the Prime Minister is here over the course of that week. But we have nothing to announce at this time."
U.S-Israel relations have hit a snag in recent months following disagreements between Washington and Jerusalem over the conduct of the war in Gaza. Netanyahu's statements that the US is delaying arms to Israel have added to Washington's frustration with him, and they have made efforts to prove that his claims are unfounded, except for one shipment. During Gallant's last visit to the US, American officials reviewed arms shipments with him in an effort to refute Netanyahu's claims.
Last month, Biden said in an interview that Netanyahu might extend the war in an attempt to cling to power and said it was "unclear" if Israel committed war crimes.
