A recently released video provides a chilling glimpse into Hamas's methodical preparation for the October 7 attack on Israel. The footage was originally published in September 2023.
Video: Hamas' training video
The footage opens with a view of the organization's command center, where commanders gather before giving the order to begin the drill. The one giving the order is the commander of Hamas's Central Camps Brigade, Ayman Nofal, who was eliminated in an air raid at the beginning of the war.
In the video, Nofal checks with the commanders to see if they are ready for the exercise. He speaks with representatives of terrorist organizations in the joint command center, including Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and Hamas. Also hung in the command center was partial of a map of the Gaza envelope.
The frame then shifts to the exercise – launching rockets and mortar fire from a beach. Following this, Hamas naval commandos are seen practicing a raid on a beach. The exercise included deep water diving, motorboat navigation, and infiltrating the shore. From there, the terrorists fire at targets in the sand and simulate clearing buildings at a site, dubbed "Horeish Yaron." They practice blowing up gates and entering the facility in pickup trucks with RPGs and machine guns.
