El Al, Israel's national airline, has announced that it will be issuing refunds to certain passengers as its subsidiary, Sun D'Or International Airlines, prepares to shift a significant portion of its operations to Terminal 1 at Ben Gurion Airport. The move, set to take effect on June 2, will result in cost savings due to the lower airport fees charged at Terminal 1 compared to Terminal 3, where most airlines operate.
In light of this development, El Al has stated that it will automatically refund $14 to each passenger who has booked a flight to a destination that will depart from Terminal 1. The refund will be issued directly to the credit card used for the initial purchase.
The refund will be applied on a per-passenger basis, meaning that a family of four, for instance, will receive a total refund of $56, equivalent to slightly more than 200 Israeli shekels. Concurrently, El Al has also announced a $14 discount on flight tickets booked for destinations departing from Terminal 1, with the discounted prices already reflected in the airline's search engines and official website.
The routes that Sun D'Or will operate from Terminal 1 include Paphos and Larnaca in Cyprus; Kalamata, Rhodes, Sitia (Crete), and Thessaloniki in Greece; Tbilisi and Batumi in Georgia; and Chisinau in Moldova. However, some of Sun D'Or's destinations, such as Porto, Warsaw, Krakow, and Tivat, will continue to operate from Terminal 3. It is essential to note that the terminals from which certain flights will operate may be subject to change.
