Elad Fingerhut, a resident of Kibbutz Matzuva, was killed by a direct hit from an anti-tank missile in the northern community of Adamit, as part of the heavy barrage on the area yesterday on Independence Day (Tuesday). Elad was the father of three children: Yuval (14 years old), Raz (12.5 years old), and Kfir (11 years old). As a result of the attack, an IDF soldier was moderately injured and four additional soldiers were lightly injured.
Fingerhut's parents returned from China following the bitter news, hence delaying the identification process of the deceased. He left behind his parents and six siblings. Upon learning of Elad's death, Dovi Shefler, head of the Efrat Local Council, asked to share in the grief of the Fingerhut family residing in the town. "Our hearts are with the Fingerhut family, a deep-rooted family in Efrat. Elad's dash into an inferno to assist injured IDF soldiers teaches of the education he imbibed and the values instilled in him by his parents. The council, with all its branches, will accompany his family and assist as needed."
Dozens of rockets were fired today toward the communities of the Western Galilee, particularly the Mount Meron area. This came after the IDF confirmed it had eliminated Hussein Makki – a senior Quds Force member of Hezbollah who was one of Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah's envoys and linked to the terror organization's leaders in Iran – in a targeted strike.
Amit Sofer, head of the Merom HaGalil Regional Council, said yesterday after the firing toward Adamit, "Our independence and sovereignty here are unquestionable. However, for us to continue maintaining control over the northern region, the Israeli government must treat any attack here by Hezbollah terrorists with utmost severity." He also called on the government to allow the IDF to retaliate in order to put an end to the threat in the North. "We cannot live here with missiles hitting our communities and destroying them. It is time, after 7 months, for the government to invest real resources before we lose the North – soon there will be no more farmers left to target."
