After legal intervention and a report published in Israel Hayom, Amazon has stopped selling the book by Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar on its website.
On Wednesday, Israel Hayom reported that the International Legal Forum had appealed to Amazon's owner and CEO Jeff Bezos, demanding the removal of Sinwar's book from the sales platform. Despite previous reports of Amazon taking down the book, until now it was still listed for sale without any disclaimer regarding the Oct. 7 attack.
Attorneys Arsen Ostrovsky and Mark Goldfeder warned Bezos and other senior Amazon executives that continuing to sell the book "could potentially expose you to severe violations of US federal anti-terrorism laws."
They further noted that publishing and selling the book violates Amazon's own policies prohibiting the marketing of offensive content. "We demand the permanent removal of the book from Amazon's distribution within 48 hours. Failure to do so will compel us to reserve all legal rights to refer the matter to relevant federal authorities for further investigation."
