The Feuerstein Institute, in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Division of the Ministry of Defense, the National Insurance Institute, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, opened a center for cognitive rehabilitation and post-trauma assistance in Rishon LeZion on Monday, February 26th. Soldiers and civilians from the lowland and central region who are suffering from post-trauma or cognitive impairment resulting from head injuries will receive assistance.

The center is managed by the Feuerstein Institute in Jerusalem, which has years of experience in the field. "Only a few months have passed since the terrible massacre on Simchat Torah and only now are people able to process what happened. These scenes will haunt us for many years, and we have to process the events so that they do not harm our psyche," says Rabbi Dr. Rafi Feuerstein, president of the institute.
The facility does not practice conventional medicine. Rabbi Dr. Feuerstein adds: "We are not doctors of the body, we are doctors of the mind. PTSD manifests in many different ways. Most soldiers will get through it alright, but there are also soldiers who will have to deal with the incidents they have encountered."
"Some will experience memory loss or heightened emotional responses. This is where we come in. Through a method developed at the Institute by Prof. Reuven Feuerstein, Israel Prize laureate, we help these people. The treatments, of course, are free and are provided through the Ministry of Defense's Rehabilitation Department or the National Insurance Institute."
"Do not be ashamed to take care of the soul," advises Dr. Rabbi Feuerstein. "Overlooking PTSD treatment can result in family crises, depression, declining functionality, work-related challenges, and a significantly challenging life. Fortunately, effective treatment is available."
