Sinwar used the tunnel as an escape route and was filmed on October 10, just three days after the war broke out. Hagari noted in a press conference that "in the footage filmed on October 10, you can see Sinwar escaping through the tunnel to a hiding place,"

Hagari also said at the press conference: "At the beginning of the month we arrested relatives of senior Hamas officials, including Yahya Sinwar," saying they were arrested over their complicity in helping Hamas stage the Oct. 7 attack and planning for it. "
"They have provided us with a lot of intelligence on the strategic infrastructure of Hamas that exists at its very core. As part of operational activity, we raided a compound in which there were bedrooms of senior Hamas officials. From this compound they managed the raid on October 7," he noted, adding that the IDF mission "is to capture him, dead or alive, and we will press on with this task." He said that "we are continuing to capture more terrorists, investigate them and extract more intelligence."
In the video, Sinwar is seen walking with his wife and children in tunnels in the southern Gaza Strip. Senior officials in Israel referred to the documentation and told Israel Hayom, "This is not the only video. We have gotten additional documentation. " Some of the additional footage or pictures are from a later stage of the war.
