According to the report, published Tuesday, Israel Hayom continues to lead the pack among dailies in Israel. Between January and December 2023, the paper had an average exposure rate of 26.8% for its weekday edition, compared to 28.0% during the equivalent period in 2022 – a drop that is considered statistically insignificant.

Israel Hayom's weekend edition led on an annualized basis between January-December 2023 with an exposure rate of 26.6% compared to 28.3% in the equivalent period in 2022 – marking a decline that is not statistically significant.

Comparing January-December 2023 and January-December 2022 on a yearly basis, the survey notes several changes in newspaper exposure rates and the degree to which people listen to the radio. The TGI survey for the period July-December 2023 also includes the days of the Gaza war which began on Oct. 7 and continued through December 31, 2023.

This period is characterized by a change in media consumption habits across all mediums, including reading newspapers and listening to the radio. Also, as a result of the war, there has been a change in programming on radio and TV outlets.

An analysis of the trend in total newspaper readership for January-December 2023 shows that the total exposure to dailies in 2023 stands at 41.0% for weekday editions compared to 42.1% in 2022 (a decline that is not statistically significant), and 46.3% for weekend editions.
