Israeli PM Netanyahu to hostages' families: 'There is no real proposal from Hamas'
On Monday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with representatives of the families of individuals abducted on October 7, directly addressing the circulating rumors regarding negotiations with Hamas. Contrary to widespread speculation, Netanyahu clarified that there has been no viable proposal from Hamas regarding the abductees, dismissing such claims as unfounded and acknowledging the distress such misinformation could cause to the families involved.

DM Gallant warns of severe consequences for Hezbollah and Lebanon in event of northern conflict
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant hosted French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu to discuss critical security issues and the ongoing campaign against Hamas, including efforts to return abductees from the Gaza Strip. During their meeting, Gallant outlined Israel's stance on the conflict with Hezbollah and the situation in southern Lebanon.
The discussions, which included senior officials from both countries, emphasized Israel's determination to continue its military operations until its objectives are met. Gallant highlighted France's crucial role in the international efforts to stabilize the security scenario along Israel's northern border, an initiative spearheaded by the American administration.
Gallant conveyed to Lecornu that while Israel is inclined towards a political resolution to end the conflict with Hezbollah, it is also preparing for military options to ensure the safety and return of northern residents. He starkly noted that a war in the north would pose challenges for Israel but would have devastating impacts on Hezbollah and Lebanon. The commitment to not cease fire until the safe return of the residents is guaranteed was reiterated, stressing the strategic importance of the security situation at the border.
Revealed: 2 terrorists were arrested in Jerusalem last month with materials for preparing explosives
Israeli authorities annouced on Monday that, last month, they successfully thwarted a terrorist attack planned by two individuals from east Jerusalem, identified as supporters of ISIS. The suspects, aged 19 and 20, from the Ras al-Amud neighborhood, were arrested on December 26 following an investigation initiated last month due to suspicions of their activities. This operation was a result of joint efforts by the police and the Shin Bet, Israel's internal security service.
Israel's Foreign Minister appeals to EU for support in abductee return and Hamas dismantlement
Israel's Foreign Minister Israel Katz took the opportunity to address the European Union's foreign ministers, presenting them with a compelling visual reminder of the stakes involved: the photo of Kfir Bibas and other abducted individuals.
"I came here to talk with the European Union's foreign ministers about two key issues," Katz said, "to return all the abductees and to receive the backing and support of the European Union for the elimination and dismantling of an organization Hamas terrorism to restore security to the citizens of the State of Israel."
IDF takes over Hamas HQ in Khan Younis killing dozens of terrorists
In a significant escalation of operations within the Gaza Strip, the Kfir Brigade, a combat team of the Israel Defense Forces, has been actively engaged in the Khan Younis area. Over recent weeks, this marked the first time the brigade has been deployed in such a capacity since its formation.
The brigade's operations focused on the Kasbah in the 'Bnei Suhila' neighborhood of Khan Younis, targeting and dismantling numerous terrorist infrastructures. Throughout their raids, Israeli forces managed to neutralize dozens of terrorists and seize a vast array of weapons, including explosives, grenades, cartridges, and rockets. A significant find was a home lathe used for manufacturing weapons, which was promptly destroyed.
This operation represents a pivotal moment for the Kfir Brigade, as it engaged in coordinated maneuvers with armored, air, and engineering forces for the first time. The collaboration facilitated direct confrontations with terrorists, employing tactics designed to combat threats both above and below ground.
After an intensive period of engagement in the Gaza Strip, the brigade's combat team withdrew temporarily to regroup and refine their combat skills. They were replaced by other forces to maintain the operational momentum in Khan Younis. The IDF has indicated that the Kfir Brigade will resume its activities based on ongoing assessments of the situation, reflecting Israel's commitment to countering terrorism within its region.
