In an attempt to send a message of unity and cooperation in the face of the recent conflict in Gaza, Minister Without Portfolio Benny Gantz (The State Party) said that his political differences with Netanyahu do not prevent them from working together for the good of Israel.

Gantz has been speaking less about politics in recent days, but when he visited the Hesder Yeshiva in Yerucham on Tuesday to express his condolences over the loss of 7 graduates in the Gaza war he broke this silence in order to drive home conciliatory messages.
In a meeting he held with the rabbis of the yeshiva, Gantz said: "When I chose the slogan 'Israel before anything else,' it was about who we are as a whole. People asked m,e 'What is the basis of your considerations? How do you decide?' I decide things after putting Israel into your calculus, above any political consideration."

According to Gantz, "It is no secret that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I are currently sitting together in an emergency government and we are supposedly political adversaries before and after it was formed, but he has never been my enemy. We presided over operations 'Pillar of Defense', 'Operation Protective Edge', 'Operation Guardian of the Walls' together and now the war – four campaigns in which we cooperated for the same goal, even though we come from different places.'
Gantz added: "Even when the judicial reform was launched, we called for dialogue before the protesters could imagine their movement. The day after the reform was presented by Yariv Levin, I asked 'Come on, let's go to dialogue and fix this issue now.' We sought to reach agreements that would be considered the right thing, as a balanced constitutional basis.' There was no doubt for a moment that we would join the emergency government when the war broke out.'"
