The director of the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza came clean during his interrogation, saying the facility operated as a de facto Hamas base. Ahmad Kahlud admitted to Shin Bet interrogators he was enlisted into Hamas in 2010 in the rank of a Brigadier General.

Asked how many terrorists were there in the hospital, he said, "There was a time that dozens of them were hidden in the hospital, sometimes close to a hundred."
Moreover, terrorists were embedded among the hospital staff.
"There are 16 employees in the hospital who are military operatives of Ezz a-Din Al-Qassem - doctors, brothers, paramedics, clerks, staff members."
"Hamas has their own ambulances that are painted differently, they're not used to transfer patients…they used them to move bodies and a kidnapped soldier," he told Shin Bet interrogators.
