French, US forces to guarantee security on Israel-Lebanon border - Arab report

Outlining Israel's conditions to international mediators regarding the situation along its border with Lebanon, the Saudi Al-Arabiya cited sources saying French and US forces would guarantee security in the area.

Video poster

According to the sources, Israel demanded that only the Lebanese army be allowed to hold weapons south of the Litani river (in accordance with UN resolution 1701).

Israel reportedly requested a joint Lebanese-French military deployment "on all points" along the Israel-Lebanon border, alongside UN peacekeepers.

According to the report, Israel agreed that Hezbollah could maintain some joint monitoring capacity with the Lebanese army and French forces in southern Lebanon, specifically south of the Litani River.

The report cited international mediators regarding an "American guarantee" that Israel will not carry out any operation or attack on southern Lebanon, and it has also been suggested that US forces be deployed on the Israeli side of the border.

IDF Chief of Staff at the Lebanese border: "They understand that here it should end with a very clear change of situation"

"On the return to all settlements, both in the south and in the north - one, we need to return to a different situation, and return to both security and a sense of security. There is a military way to do this, the beginning of which is also what you are doing here, to strike, to deter, to kill Hezbollah operatives, to show our superiority, and it can also come in the form of an attack and an attack and a war, and it may be that over time it will also have other periods and solutions, Because we are focused between the arenas on other things.

The State of Israel has never taken and said war is the first solution we will try, but we understand that in the situation here it should end in a very, very clear change of situation. And yes, a very difficult thing happened that tells us there are times when it is right to use this tool, in its full power. We in Gaza use it, I don't want to say with full force, but with a lot of force and also with beautiful achievements.'

"At the start of the meeting, I would like to send condolences to our colleague Gadi Eisenkot and his family, who lost their son Gal and the nephew Maor. How great is the sorrow, how great is the pain.

We are in the midst of Chanukah, and we remember that 2,200 years ago, three of the five Maccabees fell in battle, but the goal of achieving the independence of Israel and ensuring the thread of life for the Jewish people was achieved. We will also continue until we achieve our goals. I told Gadi that we while mourn and cry with him, we are still committed that all of the fallen, all of our heroes will have not fallen in vain.

The war is continuing, intensively, in both northern and southern Gaza, in order to achieve all of our goals: Eliminating Hamas, returning all of our hostages and ensuring that Gaza will never go back to being a threat to Israel.

And infrastructure - tunnels, military infrastructure, ammunition depots, Get out of here hundreds of computers with intelligence material, and of course contact rooms and military personnel, and everything you want.

Just as I am focused on eliminating Hamas in Gaza, deterring Hezbollah and being ready for any action against it, I also think that everything related to this thing called reserves should be protected. If a month ago there were people who thought there was no need for reserves, today they know - the reserves are like the regular ones.

The IDF released a statement on Friday morning, updating on the situation in Gaza, particularly on over 450 targets that were attacked from the air, sea and land.

"Soldiers operating in the Gaza Strip continue battles with terrorists, locating and destroying underground shafts, weapons and other terrorist infrastructure," the statement began.

The statement highlighted activity in Khan Yunis, in which the 7th Brigade guided IDF aircraft to accurately hit Hamas terrorists in a wave of attacks that lasted about two hours.

In one incident, three terrorists were identified and were attacked by a remotely manned aircraft, one of whom survived and revealed the location of other terror operatives who were hiding in a military building where they were preparing to fire rockets.

"The persistent and professional work of the fire support personnel in cooperation with the forces of the brigade in the field and the forces of the Air Force led to the closing of the circle quickly - we located and eliminated all the terrorists in the incident," a commanding officer in the 7th Brigade explained in the statement.

"In the last day, many forces of the naval arm attacked with shells and precision weaponry terrorist infrastructures used by the naval forces of the terrorist organization Hamas in the center and south of the Gaza Strip, in order to extensively damage their naval and intelligence capabilities," the statement added.

"Among the targets attacked were military sites and outposts where the organization's terrorists operated, observation posts and warehouses where weapons were stored," it described.

"The forces continue to cooperate closely with the ground forces and attack terrorist infrastructures in the maritime areas," the statement concluded.
