A top Hamas commander who planned deadly terror attacks in Israel for over two decades has been eliminated, the IDF and Shin Bet security agency said in a joint statement Wednesday.

Taysir Mubasher was the commander of Hamas' Khan Younis Battalion. He previously was in charge of the terror group's naval force and held several positions in weapons manufacturing.

Mubasher was behind the March 2002 infiltration in the community of Azmona a community within the Gaza Strip that was removed during the 2005 Disengagement Plan, in which five students were killed and dozens injured.

He is also the relative of Hamas arch-terrorist Mohammed Deif.
On Thursday, the IDF said its fighter jets carried out a precise air strike and eliminated the commander of Hamas' Northern Khan Yunis Rockets Array Hassan Al-Abdullah.
