The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs warned this week that the Palestinian Authority is expected to start paying millions of shekels to the thousands of terrorists who took part in the slaughter in Israel's south and the Gaza border communities on October 7.

According to the senior researcher Maurice Hirsch, not only has Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas not condemned Hamas' onslaught, in which more than 1,400 people were murdered and additional thousands were injured, but the PA is gearing up to pay out grants in the sum of ILS 9 million [about $2.25 million] to the perpetrators.
The calculation is based on approximately 1,500 bodies of Hamas terrorists that have been found. Each of their families will receive an initial grant in the sum of ILS 6,000 and then a monthly benefit of ILS 1,400, meaning that the Authority will disburse an additional ILS 2.1 million to the families in November.
Hirsch also noted with emphasis that the payout is undertaken in accordance with the law and has nothing to do with each terrorist's organizational affiliation or place of residence. "One expects the international community and the State of Israel to put an end to these payments, which create a direct motive for terrorism," Hirsch said. "Perpetrators of the massacre who were interrogated said that they had an economic motive, too, because Hamas promised them a financial reward. That money is a motive force for terrorism."
The State of Israel, Hirsch added, is continuing to transfer ILS 7 billion ($1.72 billion) per year to the Palestinian Authority as taxes that it collects for the Authority.
