Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Director-General of the Defense Ministry Maj. Gen. (res.) Eyal Zamir will inaugurate the project as part of the "Israel in the Footsteps of Soldiers" event during the interim days of the Sukkot holiday.
The sites – established after the war and recounting the stories of the battles and the fallen – have undergone significant upgrades in recent months, in preparation for the 50th anniversary of the war, which claimed the lives of 2,689 IDF soldiers.
KKL–JNF Chairwoman, Ifat Ovadia Luski, said: "We remember the fallen soldiers of the Yom Kippur War. Together with the Defense Ministry and the Golan Regional Council, we have led an important and symbolic effort to renovate the memorials in the Golan Heights. IDF soldiers sacrificed their lives for the sake of our country and people, the greatest sacrifice one can make. The least we can do for them and their families is to preserve their memory. Through these renewed sites, their heritage and the story of their bravery in this challenging war will pass on to future generations."
Altogether, 56 sites have been upgraded.
