Hagari also said that IDF forces came across dozens of booby traps and discovered more terror command centers.
With regard to clashes with terrorists in mosques, he said, "There were gunmen who left weapons behind and did not fight with us. They fled with the civilians. There was no attempt to fight the IDF in the streets."
Hagari continued, "Between 1,500-3,000 wanted persons fled. We set out with the names [of the wanted persons] that we wanted to arrest, but they are hiding. They don't go out to fight us … I wouldn't be surprised if they fled in an ambulance or with civilians."
The campaign, named Home and Garden, entered its second day on Tuesday.
"We continue to scan the targets, each of the units will receive a number of targets and scan them. If there is an encounter with terrorists – we will fight them," Hagari said.
