Residents in Judea and Samaria, led by the Shurat HaDin Organization, have petitioned Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu demanding he instruct that the weapons allegedly smuggled by Jordanian MP Imad Al-Adawan over two weeks ago be assigned to strengthen security in Judea and Samaria. This refers to some 200 pistols and rifles, which were smuggled into the State of Israel and, had they reached their destination, would have been used to harm Israelis. The petitioners now seek to assign the weapons in favor of their own defense.

One of the parties to this initiative is the hero of the Hawara Attack several months ago, Itamar resident David Stern, a defense readiness trainer in Samaria, who was shot in the head at point-blank range. "I ask the Israeli government to put an end to the policy of containment and restraint and to start implementing zero tolerance toward those that would cause us harm, whether bodily or mental. The release of the Jordanian member of parliament is yet another step toward obliterating Israeli deterrence.
"I expect the elected government to take action to strengthen security in Judea and Samaria and to provide extra tools for us to protect our homes. The seized weapons ought to reach the proper hands, licensed Israelis who will bolster the security of the Judea and Samaria settlements, Stern said.
In their letter, Shurat HaDin demands to bolster security personnel in the settlements and along the roads in the face of the current wave of terrorism, which is characterized by multiple shooting incidents, costing the lives of civilians and members of the security forces. "We demand that the damage caused by the decision to release Jordanian Member of Parliament Imad Al-Adwan, and to instruct that the smuggled weapons be handed over with immediate effect in favor of reinforcing the security along the roads in Judea and Samaria by handing them over to security organizations in the settlements and to license-holders".
According to the Shin Bet security agency, Al-Adwan exploited his diplomatic passport to pull off no less than 12 smuggling acts involving various goods into the State of Israel over the past year, including even weapons. According to court rulings, Al-Adwan was on his way to spending many years in prison for his egregious crimes.
"The victims' blood has barely dried"
Shurat HaDin President Nitsana Darshan-Leitner summed it up: "There is little consolation in the claim that Al-Adwan has been supposedly handed over to the authorities in Jordan for trial there. This is the same legal system that just a few years ago released the murderer of the seven girls on Peace Island before he had completed his sentence, giving him a hero's welcome upon his return home.
"The victims' blood – which has barely dried – cries out to us in the face of this inexplicable decision, which fails to meet the most fundamental expectations from administrative authorities. It undermines the rule of law. It forfeits the security of the citizens of Israel".
